COMING SOON – METAFIT: THE 30 MINUTE WORKOUT WHICH KEEPS ON WORKING!!

01.02.13

Metafit classes are the latest fitness craze sweeping the nation; and they will arrive at Callachans Health and Therapy in February! Created by a former Royal Marine Commando and a national gymnast, Metafit is a scientifically proven, results driven, high intensity workout. Metafit combines traditional bodyweight exercises with the latest interval and Tabata techniques to rev up your metabolism, tone the muscles and ultimately burn fat.

Andy Callachan, who will lead the classes, has several years experience in the fitness industry, as well as being a chartered physiotherapist, and has embraced this new concept of high intensity training as an effective method of achieving all over body conditioning.

Metafit is all about maximising the post workout calorie burn; the more intense the workout, the longer it takes for your body to return to the resting state, meaning you will be burning calories for hours after the end of your workout. Metafit is already taking the world by storm, so if you’ve not already given it a go, why not come along to one of our classes to find out what all the fuss is about. You won’t regret it.

TONI’S TIGERS GO TO THE CAPITAL

01.02.13

Several members of Toni’s Tigers running club will descend on the capital to take part in the Edinburgh Marathon festival of running on the 26th of May. Gayle Glendinning, Andy McDerment and Alan Burrell have signed up for the full Marathon, while Trish McIntosh, Sue Payne, Rhona Sturgeon, Nicola Rowan, Lesley-Ann Martin, Lisa Sloan, Marion Dunlop and Katie Grier will make up two relay teams who will run the distance between them. The Tigers will form part of a bigger group on the day; the ‘Brainrunners’, who are a 45 strong group of Ayrshire runners raising funds for Paediatric Brain Tumour Research. More children die from brain tumours than any other cancer, however research into childhood brain tumours is massively underfunded. All money raised by the group will be specifically allocated to research into childhood high grade gliomas – a type of malignant brain tumour, with a view to developing new drugs and treatments.

If you would like to support the Tigers you can donate to our just giving page on www.justgiving.com/tonistigers. And if you’d like to find out more about Toni’s Tigers running group, click here* or give Toni a phone on 07758251047. She has a range of groups to suit everyone from the absolute beginner to the more competitive runner striving to improve their times.
